Halal Standards. Raising the Bar.

Halal Standards at a Glance.
No Uniform Halal Standard.

While halal certification is a global pursuit, no single Halal standard exists. Local laws and authorities shape their own standards based on Islamic interpretations and cultural nuances. This variation highlights the complexity and diversity in halal certification approaches across regions.

Different Interpretations and Definitions.

Halal standards vary widely in interpretations, definitions, and governance. Some regions emphasize preparation aspects, while others focus on specific ethical considerations. These differences arise from a mix of religious interpretation, cultural tradition, and legal frameworks, resulting in a spectrum of standards that can differ significantly by region.

OIC Region.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) consists of 57 member states. Within this region, the Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) provides general standardization. This collaboration promotes some consistency in Halal practices, though local interpretations and regulations may still lead to variations.
